I used VB6 for a long time and have been quite happy with PowerBASIC since dropping VB6

Most of my apps tend to have a dozen or less controls. I've found that I rarely miss the draw-a-control-with-the-mouse features of the VB IDE. Yes, it was somewhat convienent, but in general the GUI is such a very small part of the time I take to write an app, that I don't reall miss that aspect of VB6 much at all. The DDT syntax of PowerBASIC is such that creating a control is just one line of code, barely a ripple in the overall effort of writing an app.
